Yesterday was my 46th birthday. My husband will tell you he took me to the Ritz Carlton for dinner and got me flowers, but that is half of the story. We attended a Bar Mitzvah party on Saturday evening at the Ritz, and the hostess invited me to take home a floral centerpiece. ๐
My day was pretty good. I had time to read both the local newspaper and The New York Times during daylight hours. The family went for lunch at a local Japanese restaurant. I wanted pho from the Vietnamese restaurant, but it was closed. I had udon instead. Last night, WineGuy took me out to dinner at McCormick & Schmick’s, a chain seafood restaurant that just opened here. The food was mediocre. The portions were small. The kitchen’s timing was way off, but the service was attentive and good. They custom-printed a menu for me and “comped” dessert. Since we finished dinner early, we stopped at Starbucks for coffee on the way home.
On the one free night I have this week, the gaggle of girls is taking me out to dinner for my birthday. I insisted on “no gifts,” but they overruled me. As the Divine Miss M says, “Ya gotta have friends . . . . ”
In the realm of personal health (not), I’m over the pneumonia but still suffering from reactive-airway disease, as I always do at this time of year. I’m getting a little sleep in the recliner, but I’m certainly not well-rested for the series of seven chorale concerts coming up this week.
Happy birthday dear Alto2, happy birthday to you!
Happy Birthday!! Yeah – coulda told you about McCormick’s as we’ve had one here for awhile and tried it out – once ๐ Still, sounds like a very very nice day and I am sure dinner with the gals will be even better! Gotta get you back out here – do I ever know a good pho place! I have SportsBoy addicted.

Happy Birthday, Alto2!
Wishing you peace, joy, and good health.
I was originally supposed to have dinner at a McCormick & Schmickโs for my birthday this year, but we changed our plans because three of the people we were having dinner with don’t eat seafood. I’m glad we ended up somewhere else if the food is just mediocre. (And, to be honest, I don’t like going to seafood restaurants here in the midwest. I like my seafood fresh.)
